Northwest Angle Snowmobile Trail Update

Northwest Angle

The snowmobile trails in Roseau & Lake of the Woods County are among the best in the midwest, from a grooming aspect, for being well marked as well as marked early in the season and for connecting to trails that take you anywhere you want to go. Unfortunately, the Northwest Angle Edge Riders are reporting their trails are closed as of Saturday, March 21, 2020.

They have stopped maintaining their trails and will pull stakes when the weather allows, most likely next week. They are also reporting, all the resorts have closed due to  COVID-19.

We look forward to seeing everyone on NWA trails next winter!

Warroad Wins Big At Explore Minnesota Tourism Awards

Explore Minnesota Tourism Awards

Warroad, Minn. – March 4, 2020 – The 2020 Explore Minnesota Tourism Awards Ceremony, held in Alexandria, was a spotlight on the Lake of the Woods region’s initiatives to become a destination. Out of the ten awards given that night, four were awarded to the region and two were awarded to Warroad, showing over 200 Minnesota representatives of tourism promotion organizations that Warroad and Lake of the Woods are an important piece of Minnesota’s tourism industry.

The New Event Award of Merit was given to the Warroad October Festival for their outstanding ability to pull off a large-scale event on a limited budget and for integrating a huge line-up of activities that highlight the unique features of Warroad. Brenda Baumann, member of the Warroad Marketing Committee stated, “Through the leadership of Sarah Homme and Taylor Okeson, Warroad’s October Festival brought in over 800 attendees from across the Midwest despite the cold, rainy weather.” The 2020 October Festival event is set for September 18 and 19 at Allison Park.

The Marketing Partner of the Year Award was presented to the Lake of the Woods Brewing Company for their outstanding work partnering with local organizations. The LOWBREWCO leadership offers “experiences” to engage an audience and shine a spotlight on Warroad and the Lake of the Woods region. As the Northernmost brewery in the U. S., Lake of the Woods Brewing Company is a true community partner and a local benchmark with their strong social media marketing efforts. Area businesses, Midwest bar/restaurant customers, and craft brew gurus, build up one another by cross-marketing and sharing their experiences via Facebook and other social platforms.  In the first six months of operation, the brewery is off to a great start with reviews on Facebook at 4.9 (of 5.0) with hundreds of favorable comments.

The nominations for these awards were submitted by the Warroad Marketing Committee. This committee is a group of local leaders, who come together to enhance the Warroad experience and make it a destination to live, work, and play.
