Sometimes it’s a rainy day. Sometimes someone in the group wants to take a break from fishing. No worries, we have a list of other must-do activities when visiting Warroad. 

• Canoe, kayak, or paddle boat on the Warroad River. Rentals available at Doc’s Harbor Inn (Special July 1-4 $10 canoe rental for an hour)
• Golf Warroad Estates
• Hunt lady slippers along highway 11 or around Beltrami Island
• Shop our amazing downtown merchants
• Bike the trails around town. Didn’t bring your bike, no worries, bikes are available at Caribou coffee.
• ATV’s through Beltrami Island State Forest
• Cool down at the splash pad
• Swim in the only sand bottom pool in Northern MN
• Tour the Northernmost Brewery, Lake of the Woods Brewing Co. Tours are offered by appointment on Friday (4–7pm) and Saturday (12–7pm) and cost $10 per person, which includes a pint.
• Lace-up in Hockeytown USA
• Tour The Shed, a unique collection of classic cars (call to schedule your tour)
• Hit the slots at Seven Clans Casino Warroad
• Get tickets to a Warroad Summer Theatre production

The Woods Goods reports “When you’re out there try a bright jig and a shiner minnow on the rocks (look 20 to 25′)..It’s been a great week of fishing and this technique has been producing well the last couple of days!”

Here’s your chance to golf with hockey stars from past & present.

The Warroad Celebrity Golf Tournament is set for Saturday, July 30, 2022 to be held at Warroad Estates Golf Course.  The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 11AM and ends with a banquet at The Gardens arena.

Don’t delay! There are only a few spots left. Each sponsorship includes fielding a team of 4 players outfitted with 4 high-quality golf shirts, 2 golf carts, morning brunch, an evening banquet, and a chance to golf alongside a celebrity throughout the tournament. Celebrities will be named on the Warroad Hockeytown USA Facebook page leading up to the 2022 golf tournament. 

Highlighting this year’s event will be the retirement of T.J. Oshie’s Warroad Warrior Jersey. T.J. will be in attendance as his #19 gets hung in The Gardens. Details of the ceremony are pending at this time.

Another component to the fundraiser includes a Jersey Raffle. There are over 30 NHL-signed hockey jerseys and on top of the list is #77 T. J. Oshie – Washington Capitals and #29 Brock Nelson – New York Islanders, #87 Sidney Crosby-Pittsburgh Penguins, #8 Alex Ovechkin – Washington Capitals. A full display is located at Izzy’s lounge. Tickets will be sold by Warroad hockey families and may be purchased at Izzy’s Lounge. 

The Warroad hockey programs, from skater tots to high school, are one of THE BEST in the State of Minnesota.  It’s because of a long-standing tradition to keep hockey affordable for kids of all ages along with the support of hockey families and the greater Warroad community.  Our motto is “Come Early. Stay Late. Skate Every Day.” 

Proceeds of the Warroad Celebrity Golf Tournament will be applied to enhance and strengthen hockey programs at every level. Your continued support is appreciated!

In addition to the reports of great fishing on Lake on the Woods, The Woods Goods team created a list which provides anglers with specifics on where they can launch their boats in the area with the high water levels.

But first the fishing report… “Tons of eaters and plenty of big fish mixed in. There are places to launch your boat so come up and enjoy the tremendous fishing.”

Angle Inlet
Youngs Bay Resort is open, docks are in place, and the ramps are being used. We were able to launch a boat there Sunday without getting wet at all.  

Buffalo Point, MB
Ramps have been built up and are in good shape. You may get your feet a little wet but the fishing is worth it!

Springsteel
The ramp is being used and the dock at the ramp is approx 2″ underwater. About half of their docks are out of the water with the rest slightly under.

Warroad Estates
Water is not to the top of the ramp yet so room to go here. No dock to use.

Kakaygeesick Bay 
Your feet may get a little wet but the ramp and dock are in good shape.

Warroad City Ramp
You can launch here but the water is quite a ways up into the parking lot – you will get wet. 2 docks are completely underwater and the north dock is 90% underwater.

Rocky Point 
The ramp is in good shape and being used. Floating docks are in good shape.
