Folk School Warroad

Folk School Warroad is relaunching this summer, with the first events of the season coming up this weekend! With their mission to bring people together and provide learning experiences, deeply rooted in our local history, they are excited about their opening lineup!

Following the Everlasting Sky Art Show held at the Hampton Inn this past weekend, the Folk School is proud to host John KaKayGeesick Sr, Donald Kakaygeesick, Daniel, and Karen Dethmers on May 20-21st, 2022 at their downtown Warroad location. The KakayGeesick name is synonymous with Warroad history, culture, and art. The series will offer three unique events, with members of the KaKayGeesick family.

Activities include individual caricature drawings, an introduction to traditional drumming and singing, KaKayGeesick family History, and traditional Bannock and Fry Bread Tasting.

In addition to presentations, there will be artwork displayed by Donald Kakaygeesick and John Kakaygeesick Sr, as well as photography by Karen Dethmers.

It should be an exciting weekend of tradition that runs deep in the Warroad Community!

These events are FREE, but space is limited so reserve your ticket soon.
