Warroad’s Tree Lighting Tradition

Light Up The Holidays & the annual tree lighting in Allison Park

Imagine a day straight out of a Hallmark movie and you’re invited to be part of it

There’s a special kind of magic in the air in Warroad on the Saturday, December 6. Warroad is gearing up for one of its most cherished events, Light Up The Holidays & the annual tree lighting in Allison Park.

Your storybook day begins with a shopping trip through our festive downtown. Forget crowded malls; here, you’ll find one-of-a-kind treasures in locally-owned shops. Hunt for handmade gifts at The Plaid Walleye, snag the perfect Hockeytown USA gear at Lake of the Woods Coffee Co., and find a cozy new sweater for yourself at Annie’s Trading Post. Don’t forget to stop by Marvin Home Center, where the aisles are decked out for the holidays, inspiring your own home decor.

When you need a break, warm up with a legendary burger at the Warroad Legion Club, share a pizza at The Phoenix, or savor a chef-crafted soup at the new 1901 PublicHouse. For a quick boost, Power Play’s energizing shakes are the perfect secret weapon.

As dusk begins to settle, the community gathers in Allison Park. Bundled up and breath visible in the crisp air, we share cookies and warm drinks, catching up with neighbors and welcoming visitors. Then, together, we raise our voices for the countdown… 3… 2… 1! The park erupts in a spectacular display of light, officially kicking off the most wonderful time of the year.

With the trees now aglow, the evening is yours to continue. Head to the Northernmost Brewery to toast to the weekend  over a flight of local craft beer, or stop at Izzy’s Lounge for a seasonal cocktail.

This is more than just turning on lights; it’s the heart of our community. Come experience a holiday tradition that will remind you of a Hallmark movie.
