The Point

The Point boat launch area is open!

The water level on Lake of the Woods declined by another 4 inches this week. The permanent docks are now starting to show as water continues to recede, but we recommend that you continue to use the rolling dock on the West side of the ramp to launch right now.

We will continue to assess the permanent docks, please check back here for our weekly updates.

It has been really good to see The Point active again this past week. A big thank you to the city of Warroad and everybody involved for making this happen!

AUGUST 25, 2022 UPDATE

The Point

Great news – The Point boat launch area is open again!  At least the first ramp (farthest to the West) is open.

The city crew continues to move the rolling docks wider as water permits, so please use caution when launching as the space between the docks is narrower than past seasons.   The parking lot has been cleared of debris and the entire parking lot is now open as well.

Thanks to the city crew and everybody that has been involved in making this happen!

AUGUST 18, 2022 UPDATE

The Point

Cleanup of the debris in the parking area has begun and will be completed this week.

Water levels continue to decrease and it is nearing the level required to launch boats.  We had two to three inches of rain early on Tuesday morning (8/16), which slowed progress down a little bit.  However, with the anticipated 5 inch reduction in water levels over the next week we are currently targeting opening at least one of the boat ramps on Thursday 8/25.

Rolling docks were deployed on Monday in preparation for next week, but due to the water levels they are not positioned with as much space as would be desired between docks.   They will be repositioned next week when water levels allow.

AUGUST 8, 2022 UPDATE

Water has receded significantly from the high points.  We expect that The Point will be open at some point the week of 8/22.  Check back here for updates as we will update this status as soon as this access has been reopened.

There is a large parking lot at The Point that is setup well for trucks and trailers. The surface is blacktop and in good condition.

Temporary rolling docks are planned to be deployed early on the week of 8/15.

There is parking is KaKayGeesick Bay for approximately 10 trucks and trailers in the car park with some roadside parking available.

The condition of the parking lot is such that care is needed. The surface is primarily bare ground.

The gravel parking lot is in good condition and there is sufficient parking for 10 trucks and trailers.

There is a $7 charge for launching here.
