Ice and Fishing Report 2/15/24
We’ve got a dual report to share; an ice update from Captain Jon “Sunshine” Head and a fishing report from Captain Nick Dejno.
Â
“We’re seeing mostly 16-20+” of ice in the areas we are fishing. Our areas of “thinner” ice, where we have been monitoring, are measuring in at 14 1/2”. We lost most of our snow cover during last week’s warmer temperatures. We would highly recommend cleats to people who are concerned about slipping. We have very limited snow in patches that have blown around the lake in recent snowfalls. Everything froze up solid last week with the much cooler temperatures. It’s currently looking very good for the foreseeable future.”

“The colder temperatures have helped our ice sheet immensely. Fishing has been good in the mud and a little tougher close to the reefs. This week, fish are liking the deeper water. We’ve seen guests catching a nice mixed bag with walleye, sauger, perch, and pike. For tackle, I recommend anything glow pink and glow jigs. Also, the hooks that flash a light on the dead stick have been working well. Good luck out there!”
