WHEREAS, Gisele “Gigi” Marvin graduated from Warroad High School in 2005 after leading the Warroad Warriors girl’s hockey team to a 18-5-1 record and was the 2005 recipient of the Let’s Play Hockey Ms. Hockey Award; and

WHEREAS, she played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers women’s ice hockey program for four years, helping the Gophers advance to the Frozen Four and finishing her Minnesota career as sixth on the school’s all-time scoring list; and

WHEREAS, she gives back to the community by inspiring young athletes to enjoy the sport of hockey by holding her Rink Rat 19 hockey school in Warroad, Minnesota (a.k.a. Hockeytown USA®); and

WHEREAS, she earned a silver medal in both the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympic Games, and five gold and two silver medals at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Women’s Championships as a part of Team USA; and

WHEREAS, she is now participating in the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics as part of the Team USA Women’s Ice Hockey Team;

THEREFORE, I, Bob Marvin, Mayor of the City of Warroad, Minnesota, in recognition of Gigi’s accomplishments do hereby proclaim February 8, 2018, the start of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, to be:
