Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Report

Gretchen Mehmel, Wildlife Area Manager from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources reports…

“There has been a lot of rain in this forest area this fall (and we currently have 4” of snow on the ground) – it’s wet out there.  I wanted to let you know what to expect for this coming deer season if you are traveling this way – you need to think ahead to plan your hunt this year more than ever.

Please look for information about the State Forest Roads at this link: https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/trailconditions/index.html.

Make sure you build time in this year for scouting.  Be aware that you may not be able to turn a vehicle around if an area is impassable, so walking might be the best option in many cases.

Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.  In any case, good luck hunting, enjoy your time in the woods, and – above all – stay safe!”
